While Ford Motor Company is yet to make an official announcement on the launch of Ford Everest, MG Motor India has introduced the new Majestor SUV in the Indian market. This is yet another attempt by MG Motor India to challenge the dominance of the Toyota Fortuner.
The new MG Majestor is a top-end and flagship variant of the Gloster full-sized SUV Range in India. It comes with visual upgrades and an updated cabin with several new features. However, mechanics of the SUV remains the same as the Gloster SUV.
In terms of styling, the new MG Majestor gets a fresh blacked-out grille, sleek LED daytime running lamps, vertically stacked headlamps, newly designed dual-tone alloy wheels and chunky skid plates. The SUV gets newly styled LED tail-lights, new dual-tone running boards, revised tail-lights with black insert, and dual-tone exhaust tips.
Inside the cabin, the new MG Majestor gets a 12.3-inch freestanding touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It comes equipped with panoramic sunroof, new fully digital instrument console, a triple zone climate control, wireless mobile charging and others. The SUV also gets Level 2 ADAS suite with features like adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, auto high beam and others.
For safety, the SUV gets six airbags, hill hold control, electronic stability program, hill descent control and driver fatique warning as standard. Other safety tech includes traction control, roll movement intervention, electric parking brake with auto hold and 360-degree around view camera.
It is likely to be powered by the same 2.0-litre, twin-turbo diesel engine that powers the Gloster. This engine is capable of producing 213bhp and 478Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic gearbox comes as standard, while a 4x4 drivetrain will come as an optional.
