Tata Motors has started deliveries of its New Tiago .EV across India. According to a media report, it has already delivered 2,000 units in 133 cities as part of the first batch. The automaker has claimed it has already received over 20,000 bookings for the electric hatchback, 10,000 of them coming in on the first day itself.
At the launch, Tata stated that the introductory prices will be limited to the first 10,000 bookings, but increased it to 20,000 due to a very positive response.
Reports suggest that waiting periods for the Tiago .EV is currently at four months, while the medium range trims have a 5 to 6 months waiting period.
Tata Tiago .EV is offered in two battery pack options, 19.2 kWh or 24 kWh. The former churns out a maximum power output of 61 bhp with 110 Nm of peak torque while the latter delivers 74 bhp and 114 Nm torque.
The entry-level variants of the Tiago .EV feature a smaller battery pack that is said to deliver a claimed electric range of 250 kms. While higher trims that come equipped with a bigger battery pack offer a range of 315 kms. The batteries support up to 50 kW fast charging, letting the hatchback juice up from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 57 minutes.
Currently, the brand is focusing on deliveries of the higher variants with the bigger battery while deliveries of the smaller battery models will start from the end of February 2023.
Introductory prices for Tata Tiago .EV range from Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom) to Rs 11.79 lakh (ex-showroom). One can expect a price increase soon once the first 20,000 cars are delivered to customers.
