The Sierra will come in the second half of 2025 with both ICE and electric powertrains. The new Duster will get a bold design with a new turbo petrol engine. The 7-seater Maruti SUV could be equipped with ADAS tech. The second-gen Kia Seltos could be the first Kia in India to get strong hybrid powertrain.
SUVs are taking the market by Strome. Buyers are spoiled for choices across price segments, and there seems to be no slowdown as several new SUVs are ready to hit roads in coming years, particularly in the under Rs 20 lakh segment. Here, we have shortlisted the top 5 upcoming SUVs, which will be priced below Rs 20 lakh.

Tata Sierra SUV, which recently made its pubic debut in its near-production version at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show, will witness a market release in the second half of this year. Interestingly, the SUV will be offered with three different powertrain options – petrol, diesel and electric. The carmaker has remained light-lipped about its engine specifications and features. However, the Sierra ICE version is likely to come with the 1.5L turbo petrol and 2.0L diesel engine options. The gasoline unit is good enough for 170bhp and 280Nm, while the oil burner delivers 170bhp and 350Nm.
The Sierra EV might feature a larger battery pack, ranging between 60kWh – 80kWh. Its electric range is expected to be around 500km. The SUV’s higher trim might be exclusively offered with the AWD system.
The overall design of the Tata Sierra ICE and EV will be slightly different. However, both models will look modern while retaining a few OG styling bits. The interior will also have a futuristic appeal with the three-screen setup and features such as Level 2 ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite, multiple airbags, wireless phone charger, a 360 degree camera, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, ventilated seats, a premium sound system and more.
Expected Staring Price (ICE): Rs 10.50 lakh

The third-generation Renault Duster is set to hit Indian shores in early 2026. Compared to the global-spec version, the model which will go on sale in India will have slightly different design elements such as the redesigned headlamp clusters, revised front bumper and more. The SUV will derive several styling bits from the Dacia Bigster concept. It might come with the 18-inch alloy wheels, massive plastic cladding on the wheel arches, Y-shaped DRLs, C-pillar integrated rear door handles and Y-shaped LED taillamps.
Interior details of the new Duster are yet to be revealed. Though, the SUV is expected to feature a premium sound system, ADAS suite, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a three-spoke steering wheel, cruise control, etc.
The India-spec Renault Duster is likely to be offered with three petrol engines. There might be a 1.3L HR13 turbo petrol motor pushing out a maximum power of 156bhp and the Kiger’s 1.0L petrol engine (tuned for generating different power and torque outputs). The lower variants of the Duster could be a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine.
Expected Prices: Rs 10 lakh – Rs 15 lakh

The 7-seater Maruti Grand Vitara is one of the upcoming SUVs planned by the Indo-Japanese automaker for 2025. This new SUV will arrive in the second half of this year to compete with the Mahindra XUV700, Hyundai Alcazar and Tata Safari. As the new three-row SUV will be based on the Grand Vitara, it will carry forward several design elements, features and powertrains will be from its donor sibling. However, it will have longer wheelbase for accommodating an extra row of seat.
The new Maruti 7-seater SUV is likely to come with features such as a 360 degree camera, electronic stability control, ventilated front seats, a touchscreen infotainment system, tyre pressure monitoring system and more. The 7-seater Grand Vitara might also be equipped with the ADAS suite.
Powering the new 7-seater Maruti Grand Vitara will be a 1.5L K15C petrol mild hybrid engine and a 1.5L, 3-cylinder Atkinson cycle strong hybrid setup. While the former delivers a claimed power of 103bhp, the latter offers 115bhp. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. This SUV will also get the AWD (all-wheel drive) system.
Expected Prices: Rs 22 lakh – Rs 27 lakh

The second-generation Kia Seltos will debut in the second half of this year. Significant changes are expected to be made inside and out. The 2025 Seltos will retain the boxy stance, but its front and rear sections will be heavily inspired by the global-spec Kia EV5. Upfront, it will feature a revised grille, tweaked bumper and new LED headlamps. The dual-tone ORVMs, newly-designed alloy wheels with diamond cut finish, redesigned rear bumper and LED taillamps will add to its premium appeal. The interior will also take some cues from the Kia EV3. The new Seltos is expected to come with a new two-spoke steering wheel, ambient lighting system and a multi-layered dashboard.
Reports in media suggest that the 2025 Kia Seltos will be offered with a strong hybrid powertrain, thus making it the brand’s first hybrid model in India. The hybrid version is expected to feature a 1.6L petrol engine delivering 141bhp. The AWD system could be reserved for the strong hybrid variants. The existing 115bhp, 1.5L petrol, and 116bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel engines will be carried forward from the current model.
Expected Prices: Rs 11.50 lakh – Rs 22-23 lakh

The new-generation Hyundai Venue will be one of the major product launches from the South Korean automaker in 2025. While its official launch timeline is yet to be revealed, it’s expected to arrive by month of October. Hyundai will use its Talegaon manufacturing facility to produce the second-generation Venue. The spy images hint that the 2025 Hyundai Venue will derive some of its design elements from the Creta and Alcazar.
The SUV will come with a completely revised front fascia featuring a new grille, redesigned headlamps, new bumper and a more raised bonnet. Inside, the new Venue could get a redesigned dashboard along with the updated infotainment system, switchgears and seat upholstery.
No changes are likely to be made under the hood. The all-new Venue will come with the same three engines: 1.0L turbo petrol, 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L diesel. Transmissions will also be carried forward from the current generation.
Expected Prices: Rs 8 lakh - Rs 13.50 lakh
