Toyota will introduce a new electric vehicle (EV) next month, i.e., on March 11, 2025. The new EV is a production version of the 2022 bZ Compact SUV concept. It will be the third all-electric model of the brand, after the bZ4X and the recently introduced Urban Cruiser EV in international markets. Although the full details remain a mystery, Toyota has given us a hint of the car with a silhouette photo and a teaser clip, showing us what to expect.
The new Toyota electric SUV will take the form of a coupe-SUV with sleek design, much like the 2022 bZ Compact SUV concept. Taking a look at the teaser pics, it's clear that it has a raked roof and an extended bonnet, hence its sporty appearance. Lightbar is implemented at the rear section, but the front houses Toyota's newest 'hammerhead' styling that helps make its stylish and current design.
While it shares a similarity with the Chinese-market bZ3C fastback, the rear light cluster and other features may be different. This means that the new vehicle could be a European model of the bZ3C, but nothing is certain.
The new Toyota electric SUV is likely to feature various powertrains, ranging from varying battery sizes and motor types. One trim of the vehicle, labelled with an "AWD" badge, is likely to come with an all-wheel-drive system. The Urban Cruiser EV, for instance, comes with two battery pack variants: a 61 kWh pack and a 49 kWh pack. These batteries offer ranges of around 400 km to 500 km, depending on the configuration. The vehicle is likely to charge at speeds of up to 150 kW.
Toyota hasn't released details of the new electric SUV's interior, but we should expect a technology-loaded cabin. We should look forward to a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a fully digital instrument panel, and possibly a raised center console. Range-topping trims might offer premium goodies like a panoramic sunroof and a high-end audio system.
There is no official word yet on whether the new Toyota electric SUV will arrive in India. But Toyota's other electric car, the Urban Cruiser EV, will be launched in India later this year. Toyota will probably make more of this car known in the coming months.
With the unveiling nearing, more details will be released. The new Toyota electric SUV is proving to be a technologically advanced and stylish addition to the firm's electric lineup.
