Ford is to return to India with the introduction of the all-new generation of Ford Everest. In some other regions, this car is being called the Ford Endeavour. The new generation of Everest will be head-to-head with one of India's biggest-selling premium SUVs, the Toyota Fortuner. The features in Everest are going to give a big challenge to Fortuner's undisputed reign in that segment.
The new Ford Everest is scheduled to enter the Indian market before the last quarter of 2025 or early 2026. The company has not announced a launch date for the model, but it plans to make this SUV in India. It will probably benefit from India's import laws that allow manufacturers to bring in up to 2,500 units of vehicles without full homologation. The Everest would be a premium-positioned product, with an estimated range of Rs. 70 lakh to Rs. 80 lakh, thereby vying head-on with the competition in the name of Toyota Fortuner.
Ford Everest will likely get a dual pod projector LED lamp, a 12-inch touchscreen digital infotainment system, in addition to a 12.3-inch electronic instrument cluster for the purpose of display. This SUV will offer wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality for complete connectivity. It will boast comfort through powered seats, automatic climate control, as well as an expansive sunroof. From the outside, the Everest will boast 20-inch alloy wheels and LED tail-lights. All these are done to make the Ford Everest the complete package and the right choice for SUV buyers in the premium category.
There will be a rich appeal to the engine options that will be present in the Ford Everest. It is expected to offer two engine options: a 2.0-litre bi-turbo diesel and a more powerful 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel that can push up to 250 horsepower and 600Nm of torque, far higher than what the 2.8-litre diesel produces in Toyota Fortuner. It would deliver better performance and more torque for a smoother ride as compared to the smaller version.
The Toyota Fortuner is currently ruling the premium SUV segment in India by its price which ranges between Rs. 33.43 lakh to Rs. 51.44 lakh. Toyota Fortuner is available in petrol and diesel variants, but the diesel variant gives an output of 204 horsepower and 500Nm of torque. Fortuner is very well established in its marketplace. But now, Ford Everest will going to enter this space with a large engine and features offering to customers. With the Ford Everest almost ready for the market, this will hot up competition between the two SUVs, as the customer will receive more powerhouse as compared to the Toyota Fortuner.
