Following the launch of the new Innova Hycross, Toyota has already started testing of the Toyota Innova Electric MPV for the global markets. Recent spy shots reveal the new model being tested in Indonesia without any camouflage.
According to the spy shots, the upcoming Innova EV model will be based on the Innova Crysta. The new model features will feature a closed-off grille, blue accents around the headlights, and vertical fog lamps. In the side profile, the four-wheeler gets Innova EV badging on the C-pillar, blue graphics and a new set of alloy wheels. The rear-end stays like the now discontinued Innova Crysta.
Moving to the interior, it remains largely unchanged from the ICE model. There’s a touchscreen infotainment system, an analogue instrument console and a 3-spoke steering wheel.
Toyota had previously showcased, the Innova EV concept at the Indonesia International Motor Show in April 2022. The concept models infotainment screen displayed various information like power output, available range and battery percent.
Currently Toyota has not confirmed its plans to bring the new model to India. But with the demand for the MPV and the awareness about electric vehicles increasing, we can expect the company to launch the Innova EV in late 2025. The price range of the electric MPV will be between Rs 25 and Rs 30 lakh.
In the buildup to the launch of the Toyota Innova Hycross, the automaker has delisted the Innova Crysta after stopping bookings for the diesel models earlier. But worry not as the brand is all set to bring back the popular MPV with a minor update next year. The rumors also suggest that the updated Innova Crysta will be available with a CNG powertrain option for the first time.
