Two brand new SUVs are scheduled to be launched in our market in the first week of January 2026. Kia has officially announced to launch the new-gen Seltos SUV on January 2, 2025. On the flip side, Mahindra will launch the new XUV 7XO 7-seater SUV on January 5, 2025. For people not in the know, the Mahindra XUV 7XO is the renamed XUV700 facelift.

Interested buyers can book the new Kia Seltos online or at authorised Kia dealerships by paying a token amount of Rs 25,000. Deliveries of the new SUV will commence from mid-January 2025. In terms of proportions, the new Seltos is 4,460mm in length, 1830mm in width and 1653mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2690mm. It is 95mm longer and 30mm wider than the older model, and the wheelbase is increased by 80mm.
In terms of features, the new Seltos gets triple screen setup (12.3-inch touchscreen, 12.3-inch driver’s display and 5-inch AC unit), 10-way powered driver’s seat with lumbar support and memory function, Bose sound system with 8-speakers, 64-colour ambient lighting, LEVEL 2 ADAS, front, rear & side parking, 6 airbags and 360-degree camera with blind spot monitoring.
For safety and security, the new Seltos gets 6 airbags, TPMS, all-wheel disc brakes, ABS, brake assist, VSM, hill start assist, ESC, a rear view camera and others. The new Seltos is available with 3 engine options - a 115bhp, 1.5L NA petrol, a 160bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol and 116bhp, 1.5L diesel. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed CVT, 6-speed iMT, 7-speed DCT and 6-speed torque converter automatic.
The new XUV 7XO will share the design elements with the XEV 9S and the XEV 9e. The spy images suggest that the SUV won’t receive sheet metal changes, but the front design seems heavily revised. The SUV will have a new grille with larger air intakes, and a pod-like design for the headlamps. It will get C-shaped DRLs, which we have already seen on the XEV 9S. Other design changes will include XEV 9S-like rear design, new front and rear bumpers, and a new set of alloys.
The new XUV 7XO is likely to share the electronic architecture with the Mahindra XEV 9S. It will have a three-screen setup, comprising a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a 12.3-inch co-occupant’s entertainment screen. The SUV will get an auto-dimming IRVM, front and rear parking sensors and an updated LEVEL 2 ADAS tech. The new Mahindra XUV 7XO will be powered by a 2.2L turbo diesel and 2.0L turbo petrol engines. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
