Honda to launch Prelude and ZR-V as CBU City sedan and Elevate SUV to receive mid-life update
In order to regain lost market share, Honda is planning to launch 10 new cars, including 7 SUVs in the Indian market in the next 2-3 years. The company is looking at importing some of its premium models along with all-new India-spec models and facelifts of existing cars. This year, Honda Cars India will launch 4 new models, including the Prelude two-seater sports coupe and the ZR-V SUV. Moreover, the existing cars like the City sedan and Elevate SUV will receive facelifts.

The Japanese automaker, Honda is planning to introduce the Prelude 2-seater sports coupe in India as a CBU in limited numbers. It will work as a brand builder, and will be introduced as a flagship offering. It will be powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, Atkinson cycle direct-injection petrol engine with two electric motors offering a combined power and torque output of 200hp and 315Nm. Key features will include a flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters, a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, a 10.2-inch digital driver’s display, an 8-speaker Bose sound system, LEVEL 2 ADAS and wireless phone charger.
Honda Cars India will give a mild mid-cycle update to its existing models, including the City and Elevate. The Honda Elevate facelift is expected to receive minor design changes such as refreshed front and rear, a revised interior and new colour schemes along with a new set of features. It will continue to be offered with a 1.5L NA petrol engine paired to a 6MT and a CVT. The SUV could also get a 1.5L hybrid powertrain that powers the City e:HEV.
The Honda City will also receive its second facelift before entering the next generation by 2028. The sedan will receive design changes with inspiration from the global-spec Civic sedan. Inside the cabin, the sedan could get a refreshed trim and upholstery, a bigger screen and new set of features. The engine options will remain the same.

Honda will introduce the ZR-V hybrid SUV as a CBU model before the end of 2026. Already on sale in select ASEAN markets, the SUV gets a strong hybrid engine comprising a 2.0-litre petrol engine and two electric motors. The combined power and torque output stands at 184bhp and 315Nm, respectively. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 7.8 seconds before hitting a top speed of 173kmph. The SUV offers an impressive mileage of around 22.2kmpl (4.5-litre per 100 kilometres on the combined WLTC cycle). In terms of proportions, the ZR-V hybrid is 4,568mm long, 1,840mm wide and 1,620mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,665mm.
