2 New Toyota 7-Seater SUVs Spied Testing – Launch Timeline & Details

Toyota to launch new 7-seater Hyryder SUV in late 2026. Next-gen Fortuner might receive updated ADAS and new features.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor recently entered the electric vehicle (EV) segment with the launch of the Urban Cruiser Ebella. The top-end E3 variant, equipped with 61kWh battery pack, is priced at Rs 23.60 lakh (ex-showroom). The Japanese automaker is now gearing up to introduce two new three-row SUVs by the end of this year – the 7-seater Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder and the next-gen Toyota Fortuner. Both models are currently undergoing testing, and recent spy images have revealed some interesting details.

7-Seater Toyota Hyryder

Spy images clearly confirm that the 7-seater Toyota Hyryder will feature an extended rear section to accommodate the third row of seats. It will also come with differently designed alloy wheels, differentiating it from its 5-seater sibling. The SUV is expected to offer a cabin layout and features similar to the standard Hyryder. Toyota might also upgrade its ADAS suite with more advanced safety features.

The new Toyota 7-seater SUV is expected to come with the 1.5L mild hybrid petrol and 1.5L strong hybrid powertrain options, borrowed from the Hyryder.

As far as pricing is concerned, the 7-seater Toyota Hyryder is expected to command a premium of around Rs 1 lakh or Rs 2 lakh over the 5-seater model. Once launched, it will face challenge from the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV 7XO and MG Hector Plus.

New-Gen Toyota Fortuner

The next-generation Toyota Fortuner is expected to make world debut in late 2026, followed by its India launch in early 2027. The SUV could be designed on the updated IMV ladder-frame platform and derive design inspiration from the ninth-generation Hilux. Spy images indicate that the new Fortuner will feature a wider front fascia with a flatter bonnet and a more upright stance.

With the generational upgrade, the Fortuner is likely to get Toyota Safety Sense ADAS suite along with a larger touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital driver’s display. Features such as ventilated and powered front seats, wireless charging, a 360-dgree camera and a sunroof could also be on offer.

Mechanically, the 2027 Toyota Fortuner is expected to remain unchanged. It will continue with the existing 2.7L petrol, 2.8L diesel and 2.8L mild hybrid diesel powertrain options.
