The biggest update in regards to the exterior design is the introduction of two new dual tone colour options. Gallant Red with Black roof and Magma Grey with Black roof can be availed on the top-end ZXI+ variants at an additional price of Rs 12,000. Plus now there are blacked-out alloy wheels as part of the package instead of steel rims and wheel covers provided in the earlier top-end versions. Interior of the 2022 New Maruti Wagon R caters to new fabric upholstery in the form of dark grey melange instead of beige which was there before. Some of the key feature highlights on-board this car include a 7-inch SmartPlay Studio with smartphone navigation that offers 4 speakers and is supported by cloud based services to provide connected car technology. Rest more or less things remain unchanged. Talking about safety, the four-wheeler now comes equipped with Hill-Hold Assist function in AGS variants and dual airbags. Apart from these introductions, ABS (Antilock Braking System) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), speed alert system, and rear parking sensors have all been carried forward.

Maruti has upgraded the New Wagon R with advanced K-series Dual Jet, Dual VVT engines featuring Idle Start Stop Technology. What you get here are two petrol powertrain options, 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre units. Equipped with cooled Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR), the power plants now provide even better fuel efficiency. Thus the 1.0-litre petrol (VXI AGS) delivers a mileage of 25.19 kmpl followed by the S-CNG trim returning 34.05 km/kg. While the 1.2-litre petrol offers a figure of 24.43 kmpl for the ZXI AGS/ ZXI+ AGS variants. Transmission options here include a manual gearbox and an Automatic Gear Shift (AGS). As for S-CNG it is only being offered with the 1.0-litre in LXI and VXI trims.
