January 2025 is going to be an action-packed month for the Indian automobile industry as the second edition of the Bharat Mobility Global Expo will begin on 17th January in New Delhi. The Auto Expo will witness multiple new product unveilings and launches across different segments. In the coming week, three major SUVs will hit showrooms including the Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra BE 6 and Mahindra XEV 9e. Here’s a brief overview of these upcoming electric SUVs.
Hyundai’s pavilion at the 2025 Auto Expo will have two important products – Creta Electric and Ioniq 9. The South Korean automaker will announce prices of the Hyundai Creta Electric at the event. It will serve as Hyundai’s answer to the Tata Curvv EV and MG ZS EV. This electric SUV will also go up against the upcoming Maruti e Vitara and Mahindra XEV 9e. The carmaker has confirmed that the electric Creta will come in four trims – Executive, Smart, Premium and Excellence – and in 13 colour options (including eight single-tone, three matte and two dual-tone shades).
The EV will be offered with two battery pack options – 42kWh with 135bho motor and 51.4kWh with 171bhp motor – delivering a claimed range of 390km and 473km (ARAI-certified), respectively. Its Long-Range version with the bigger battery pack, can accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 7.9 seconds. Customers will be able to charge the Creta Electric with a DC fast charger from 10 to 80 percent in 58 minutes. Hyundai will also provide an 11kW AC charger with the EV.
Mahindra & Mahindra has already revealed the prices of the Pack 1 and Pack 3 variants of its upcoming electric BE 6 and XEV 9e SUVs. The BE 6 Pack 1 and Pack 3 variants are available at Rs 18.90 lakh and Rs 26.90 lakh, respectively. The XEV 9e Pack 1 and Pack 3 variants cost Rs 21.40 lakh and Rs 30.50 lakh, respectively. Prices of the Pack 2 variants will be revealed at the Bharat Mobility Show this week.
Mahindra has confirmed that buyers will be able to pre-book the Pack 3 variants of the electric SUVs from 14th February onwards, while bookings for Pack 1 and Pack 2 will begin in March 2025. Both EVs can be had with either a 59kWh battery pack or a 79kWh battery, sourced from BYD. The smaller battery offers an ARAI-rated range of 556km, along with power worth 228 bhp. The bigger battery pack returns a range of 682km and a maximum power of 281hbp. Initially, the new Mahindra electric SUVs will come with the RWD (rear-wheel drive) system only. There will be three drive modes – Range, Everyday and Rack along with a Boost mode.
