Toyota Cars is gearing up to launch the new Innova Hycross MPV globally in November 2022. Third-generation model of the immensely successful Innova, the Hycross will be completely different car from the current model. Changes to the upcoming MPV include new chassis, powertrain and interiors. Here is everything you need to know.
The Innova Hycross is expected to be underpinned by Toyota’s Global TNGA-C architecture. The biggest difference between the new model and the Innova Crysta is that deviation from the ladder-on-frame chassis to a monocoque chassis. The new underpinnings will offer the car better on-road manners and a lighter construction. This also means the Hycross is most likely to be front-wheel-drive instead of rear-wheel-drive like before.
In design terms, the Innova Hycross will likely keep a similar silhouette to the Innova Crysta. However, the new MPV will look much sleeker and feature LED lights all-around along with a more aggressive front grille.
Spy shots have already given us a few details about the interior of the Toyota Innova Hycross. Compared to the current model, the changes are immediately noticeable. The spy images have revealed the availability of a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system along with a more premium looking digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, 360-degree parking camera and sensors, dual-zone climate control, and more. As a premium Toyota, we can expect the Hycross to become the first Toyota to offer ADAS tech.
With diesel bookings stopped on the Toyota Innova Crysta, we can expect the company to launch the new MPV with only one petrol hybrid engine option. The new 2.0-litre strong hybrid unit is expected to offer around 175 bhp. The overall powertrain will be heavily localised to keep costs in check.

While Toyota hasn’t revealed a launch date for the Innova Hycross, we expect the MPV to be launched around the first quarter of 2023 in India.
The Toyota Innova Crysta will continue to being sold alongside the Hycross. The former is also expected to receive a minor update in 2023. The biggest USP of the Crysta will be its diesel engine which will be a perfect choice for all the commercial segment buyers.
