Japanese automaker, Honda is aiming to regain its lost market share by introducing a range of new models. The company is working on multiple new products across different segments and powertrains, including ICE, hybrid and electric. Honda has already announced that it will launch an all-new electric SUV in India in 2026. Honda is also working on multiple new SUVs, which will come with a hybrid engine.
Honda is developing an all-new platform, codenamed PF2, which will underpin its future SUVs, sedans and EVs for India. The platform will be flexible enough to support both ICE and electric powertrains. Honda Cars India will aim at higher level of localisation to achieve competitive pricing.
Honda is planning to launch 3 new SUVs in the country, including a new 7-seater SUV, a compact SUV and an all-new electric SUV. Adding to it, Honda is also considering its globally popular ZR-V hybrid SUV for the Indian market. It will come as a fully imported model and will carry a high price. The ZR-V is packed with a 2.0-litre petrol engine, a small battery, two electric motors and an electric CVT gearbox.
Honda is developing a new 7-seater SUV and it will be the first model to be based on the new PF2 platform. The new SUV will be designed and developed by Honda R&D centres in Japan and Thailand with inputs from Honda Cars India. It is likely to get a new hybrid engine, which is likely to be an improved and heavily localised version of the current 1.5L engine with e:HEV hybrid system.
Honda is also developing the next-gen City sedan, which is likely to be launched around 2027-28. Moreover, a new compact SUV based on the PF2 architecture is also under development. Both models will be packed with a strong hybrid engine.
