Hyundai Motor India Limited has just opened bookings for the updated Alcazar in India. The 7-seater SUV now gets a new powertrain option, mild cosmetic changes and added safety features. While a launch date is yet to be revealed, bookings have commenced at a token amount of Rs 25,000.
Visually, the Alcazar gets mild changes with a new front grille that looks similar to the recently updated Hyundai Venue. Other new equipment includes puddle lamp on higher variants and standard six airbags.
The biggest change to the 2023 Alcazar is the new powertrain. The 2.0-litre petrol unit has been replaced by a more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol motor that makes 160 bhp and 253 Nm of peak torque. The new engine comes mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox option. Hyundai says the new engine meets the upcoming RDE (real driving emission) norms and is E20 fuel compliant.
In addition, the company has provided the new SUV with integrated start-stop tech to help enhance fuel efficiency. The expected mileage figures include 17.5 kmpl for the manual and 18 kmpl for the DCT variants.

The Alcazar’s diesel option remains unchanged. It continues with the highly popular 1.5-litre CRDi unit that is rated for a maximum power output of 115 bhp and peak torque of 250 Nm. This system comes mated to a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

As mentioned above, prices for the 2023 Hyundai Alcazar are yet to be announced but expect it cost a bit more than the current model. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV700, and the recently updated Tata Safari.
MG Hector petrol variants now E20 fuel compatible; 2025 model launched with no price hike, meeting new emission norms and supporting sustainable mobility.
