It is no secret that car manufacturers are moving towards SUVs to drive sales in our market. However, few brands still sell sedans to attract sedan lovers in India. The mid-sized sedan segment currently has some excellent products, including Slavia, Virtus, Verna and the evergreen Honda City. Out of these four cars, 3 sedans will receive mid-life facelift in the next 6-12 months.
Skoda has started testing the Slavia facelift, which is expected to arrive in our market in early 2026. On the other hand, Volkswagen will launch the Virtus facelift by mid-2026. Hyundai is also testing the Verna facelift, which will receive cosmetic changes next year. Let’s talk about these 3 sedans in detail -

First launched in 2023, the fourth-generation Hyundai Verna will receive a mid-life update next year. The sedan will receive cosmetic design and interior changes; however, mechanics will remain the same. Going by the spy images available on the Internet, it is visible that the Verna facelift will receive few cosmetic changes, mostly around the front and rear. The sedan is likely to get redesigned headlamps and tail-lights, revised grille and bumpers.
The Hyundai Verna facelift is likely to receive some changes inside the cabin as well. It could get a revised touchscreen infotainment unit and a new digital driver’s display. The sedan is likely to be offered with the same set of engines - a 1.5L turbo petrol and 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual, a CVT automatic and a 7-speed DCT.

Skoda will launch the updated versions of the Kushaq and Slavia sedan in India in 2025 and 2026, respectively. The Slavia facelift will receive design and interior changes along with a new list of features. In terms of styling, the sedan is likely to get a refreshed front design with an updated grille, slightly tweaked headlamps, and new bumper. At the back, the sedan will have new bumper and modern LED lighting system.
Inside the cabin, the Skoda Slavia sedan could get revised dashboard, a larger 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 360-degree surround view camera, a new sound system and an electronic parking brake with auto hold. The sedan is also likely to get LEVEL 2 ADAS and a panoramic sunroof. The engine options will remain the same - a 115hp, 1.0L turbo petrol with 6MT and 6-speed torque converter and a 150hp, 1.5L turbo petrol with 7-speed DCT.

As with most facelifts, the VW Virtus will receive changes cosmetic in nature along with a longer list of features. The sedan is expected to receive new front and rear bumpers, new headlamp and tail-lamp units, and new alloys.
Inside the cabin, the 2026 VW Virtus is likely to get new interior scheme and new upholstery along with a new set of features. It is expected to get a 360-degree surround view camera, LEVEL 2 ADAS and a panoramic sunroof. The Virtus facelift will continue to be offered with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine options. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter with 1.0L unit and a 7-speed DCT with 1.5L turbo unit.
