Kia has launched the new Carens Clavis as a more premium and feature-loaded MPV in the Indian market. The company has recently confirmed that it will launch hybrid, EVs and ICE-powered cars in India. The brand’s first mass-market EV will be based on the new Carens Clavis, which has already been spotted multiple times on the Indian roads.
Kia has not revealed the official launch date for the Clavis EV, but sources suggest that the electric MPV could go on sale by June-July 2025. Stay tuned to CarLelo for more updates on the same.
The new Clavis EV will look similar to the Carens Clavis; however, it will receive some EV-specific design changes. The front design will be inspired by global Kia EVs including the EV9 and EV3. It will get a blanked-off grille, and revised LED headlamps and DRLs, while the charging pot will be mounted on a front fender.
Other design highlights could include an aero-optimised alloy wheels, slightly tweaked tail-lights connected via a light bar, and new rear bumper. Inside the cabin, the electric MP will look largely similar to the Carens Clavis. It will have a dual HD screens for infotainment and driver’s display, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, powered driver’s seat and more.
The Clavis WILL have LEVEL 2 ADAS suite with features like adaptive cruise control, lane assist, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot monitoring and others. Other features include a 360-degree surround view camera, front, side and rear parking sensors, and recline and slide function for second row seats.
The new Clavis EV is likely to share the battery pack with the Creta EV, which is available with two battery capacities - 42kWh and 51.4kWh. The former gets a 135hp electric motor and offers a range of 390km, while the bigger battery gets the 171hp electric motor and offers a range of up to 473km.
Volkswagen Golf GTI's first batch sells out in India; second batch of 100 units expected in 2025. Price announcement set for May 26.
