The much-anticipated Kia Syros will make its global debut in India on December 19, 2024. Likely to be launched at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show, the new Syros SUV will be positioned between the Sonet and Seltos in Kia's India line-up. Ahead of the official reveal, dimensions and specifications of the SUV have been leaked on the Internet.
We have already compared the dimensions of the Kia Syros with the Sonet compact SUV. Here, we are comparing the dimensions of the Syros with the Kia Seltos which is a mid-sized SUV.
The Syros will be a sub-4 meter car and will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV. It rides on bigger wheelbase compared to the Sonet, which suggests that Kia's focus will be on offering spacious cabin and bigger boot.
Syros Dimensions - it will measure 3,995mm in length, 1800mm in width and 1,665mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,550mm. The leaked info reveals that the new Kia Syros will offer a boot space of 465-litres, which is one of the biggest in its category.
Seltos Dimensions - it is a mid-sized SUV and rivals the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and others in the category. Dimensionally, the Kia Seltos is 4365mm long, 1800mm wide and 1645mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2610mm. The SUV offers a ground clearance of 190mm, while the boot space stands at 433-litres.
Despite being a sub-4 meter SUV, the Syros offers a bigger boot compared to the Seltos. The Syros wheelbase is around 55mm longer than the Sonet, and 55mm shorter than the Seltos. Due to the boxy design, the Kia Syros manages to extract more space in boot. The Seltos is around 370mm longer than the Syros. However, the sub-4 meter SUV is 20mm taller than the mid-sized SUV.
Both Syros and Seltos offer similar set of features, which makes the former a good option in the sub-4 meter SUV category. The SUV gets LEVEL 2 ADAS, front parking sensors, a 360-degree surround view camera, powered front seats with ventilation, slidable and recline second-row seats with rumoured ventilation function, 17-inch diamond cut alloys and others.
The Kia Syros will come with two sunroof options - a single-pane unit in lower variants and panoramic sunroof in top-end variant. The SUV will also get 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit and 12.3-inch digital driver's display. Similar to the Seltos, Kia could also add Heads-Up Display or HUD in the Syros compact SUV.
The new Kia Syros will be offered with two engine options - a 114bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel and a 118bhp, 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol. Transmission choices are likely to include a 6-speed manual, a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
On the flip side, the Kia Seltos is available with three engine choices - a 114bhp, 1.5L turbo diesel, a 113bhp, 1.5L NA petrol and a 158bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol.
