Skoda Kodiaq, Octavia, and Superb to feature diesel engines. Kodiaq comes with a 2.0-litre diesel engine and 5/7 seating. They will provide luxury and advanced technology.
As diesel comes back stronger in India's auto market, Skoda is geared up to provide new diesel car options under the brand. It will comprise Superb, Octavia, and Kodiaq, as demand for diesel grows. Skoda looks forward to satisfying the growing demand for efficiency and power in diesel option.
The share of diesel vehicles in the total passenger vehicle or PV sold in India has been steadily increasing. During first half of December 2024, there was 18% of share of total PV sales accounting for the diesel vehicles where in comparison, in 2023 this was 17.8%. This also indicates increasing popularity of SUVs that has gradually increased to 55% of all car sales being done. Diesel engines, being more fuel-efficient, are more preferred for bigger SUVs and thus more suitable for Indian roads.
Skoda Auto India is also going to bring back diesel variants in many of its key models due to this trend. The Czech automobile manufacturer is going to restart the diesel engine in their next-generation Superb and Octavia sedans, with an expected launch in the end of 2025 in India. Coming with the latest technology and with some updated features, these cars will be sold to users who want the power plus economy of diesel engines in a car.
The much-awaited one in Skoda's list will be the new Kodiaq, for which spy shots have been clicked here in India. The company is supposed to launch it during the first quarter of 2025. This flagship SUV will be available both in the 5- and 7-seater version and the different engines offered will feature a 2.0-litre diesel engine among others. The diesel of Kodiaq is expected to deliver 147.94 bhp as well as 190.36 bhp power outputs. In addition to the diesel engine, the transmission would be a 7-speed DCT, and AWD is also available option.
The Kodiaq would include a 13-inch touchscreen along with a 10.25-inch digital driver's screen and the rest in all the advanced features like a panoramic sunroof, a 360 degrees camera. It will also include ADAS system features along with adaptive cruise control, lane assist and braking in case of emergencies. Some good safety equipment such as up to nine airbags and electronic stability controls too would be provided by Kodiaq. There was some tough competition through certain popular SUVs such as Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian and MG Gloster.

The new Skoda Octavia will impress all with its latest design and features. Both 1.5-litre turbo petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines options will be available in the sedan. This diesel engine in the Octavia promises excellent fuel efficiency without compromising on its performance. It will sport a modern interior with premium material, along with Ergo seats for comfort. The Octavia will also see Virtual Cockpit and the infotainment screen tech-savvy within this sedan class. All the other features, such as adaptive cruise control, lane assist, and predictive parking, are brought to the car.

Skoda's flagship sedan, Superb, will continue to deliver luxury and performance. It will come with a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and diesel might also be an option. The Superb will deliver a generous amount of space inside with a 9-inch touchscreen, three-zone climate control, and premium seats. It will come equipped with nine airbags, a 360-degree camera, and hill assist.
With a expected starting price of Rs. 54 lakh, the Superb will compete with the Toyota Camry hybrid and will also provide a more affordable option than luxury sedans offered by Audi and Mercedes-Benz.
