Kia’s Most Affordable EV Launch Soon – Nexon EV Rival

The Syros will be the smallest and most affordable Kia EV in India. It will rival the Nexon EV and Windsor EV.

Earlier this year, Kia India announced its plan to expand its product portfolio to 10 models by 2030. The plan outlines eight electrified products including the Syros EV, Sorento Hybrid and Carnival Hybrid. The Kia Seltos hybrid launch has already been confirmed for 2027. All these upcoming Kia models will cater to different sets of buyers across multiple price ranges.

Expected Prices & Competition

The Kia Syros EV will be the smallest and most affordable electric offering from the South Korean automaker in the country. While its official prices will be announced in August 2026, the electric SUV is expected to be priced around Rs 15 lakh for the entry-level variant and Rs 20 lakh for the top trim. At this price point, it will take on the MG Windsor EV, Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV.

Expected Battery & Range

The Kia Syros EV will be built on the K1 architecture, which also underpins the globally sold Hyundai Inster EV. It will feature a FWD (front-wheel drive) system. However, its official powertrain specifications are yet to be revealed. As per media reports, the Syros EV might share its powertrain with the Hyundai Inster EV.

Globally, the Inster EV is available with two battery options – a 42kWh Standard Range and a 49kWh Long Range. Both are paired to a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The smaller 42kWh battery pack delivers a maximum power of 97PS and a claimed WLTP range of 355km. The larger 49kWh battery version, on the other hand, offers power worth 115PS and a range of up to 370km. Torque output for both variants stands at 147Nm.

Exterior & Interior Highlights

Spy shots reveal that the Kia Syros EV will retain the boxy stance and overall design language of its ICE counterpart. However, it will receive several EV-specific changes inside and out. It will feature a charging flap at the front panel, aero-optimized alloy wheels, revised bumpers and roof rails. The EV might get vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) capabilities, while sharing most of its features with the regular ICE-powered Syros.
