Mahindra's latest Born-electric SUVs, the XEV 9e and BE 6 have collectively registered booking value of Rs 8472 crores on the first day of opening. Both Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 have secured 30179 bookings in just one day. This is a big milestone considering that the total electric passenger vehicle sales in India was about 1 lakh units for the calendar year 2024.
The Mahindra XEV 9e accounts for 56% of the total bookings, while the Mahindra BE 6 takes 44% of the total bookings. The company has recorded close to 17,000 pre-orders for the XEV 9e SUV Coupe, which is quite fabulous for a car that costs around 25-32 lakh. The top-end Pack Three, featuring a 79 kWh battery, accounted for 73% of the total bookings across both brands.
Mahindra said that the "this response indicates strong customer enthusiasm for Mahindra’s next-generation electric SUVs and reflects the growing demand for premium EVs in India." Adding to it, the company claims that "this strong demand underscores the confidence customers have in Mahindra’s UNLIMIT India vision—delivering innovative, world-class electric SUVs that offer a distinctive blend of luxury, performance, and technology."
Mahindra had revealed the new Born electric SUVs, the XEV 9e and BE 6 on November 26, 2024. Both EVs made their public debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. Both SUVs share the same battery pack options and are based on Mahindra's new flexible skateboard architecture, called the INGLO. This platform will also underpin the upcoming XEV 7e 3-row SUV and the BE.07 based electric SUV.
Both the BE 6 and XEV 9e are offered with a 59kWh battery pack and a 79kWh battery pack. The BE 6 with 59kWh battery pack is claimed to offer a certified range of 557km according to MIDC testing, while the XEV 9e with the same battery offers 542km of range.
The BE 6 with 79kWh unit delivers a real-life range of over 500km. The MIDC range for the same is 656km, which makes it one of the most efficient electric cars of India. Customers can buy 7.2 kW and 11.2 kW AC chargers at Rs 50,000 and Rs 75,000, respectively.
