The homegrown UV maker, Mahindra is preparing to launch updated versions of the XUV700 and Thar 3-door. Both SUVs have already been spotted testing couple of times on the Indian roads. The Mahindra Thar facelift has been caught testing again, but this time it reveals the interiors.
The Thar facelift will share some of the features and design changes in-line with the Thar Roxx. Adding to it, the front fascia of the new Thar 3-door facelift has also be revealed in the latest spy images. It is expected that the new lifestyle off-roader might launch around the festive season, before Diwali.

The new Mahindra Thar facelift will receive significant changes inside the cabin. The spy images also confirmed that the SUV shares its features with the bigger Mahindra Thar Roxx. It can be equipped with a new free-standing 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The outgoing model is packed with a 7-inch touchscreen unit.
Another big update is the addition of automatic climate control and Thar Roxx-like steering, which is also available on the Scorpio-N. The instrument console is not visible in the current spy images, but it is most likely to be the new full-digital TFT screen.
The spotted model is the rear-wheel-drive model, as it misses out on a 4x4 transfer case. It continues to feature a manual handbrake. The higher-spec model is likely to be equipped with features such as ventilated front seats, 360-degree surround view camera, and others.
This time, the front design of the SUV has been revealed. However, the front is covered with thick cloth. The front is expected to receive major changes with styling similar to the Roxx. The SUV has the same grille as the Thar Roxx, as it also has vertical slats.
Not just the grille, the headlamp unit seems identical to the Thar Roxx. It has projector headlamp setup with C-shaped daytime running lamps. The SUV also gets new front bumper, fog lamp housing and new turn indicators mounted on the front fenders.
The rear profile of the new Thar facelift is likely to get revised rear bumpers and new tail-lamp setup. The SUV also gets revised fenders and newly styled alloy wheels.
The new Thar 3-door facelift is likely to get the existing powertrains, including a 2.2L diesel, 2.0L turbo petrol, and a 1.5L diesel. The 1.5-litre turbo diesel engine comes as a rear-wheel-drive layout, and is capable of producing 117bhp and 300Nm of torque.
The 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine churns out 150bhp and 300Nm of peak torque. On the other hand, the 2.2L turbo diesel engine is good for 130bhp and 300Nm of torque. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
