Maruti is preparing 9 new models for India. Seven of the upcoming vehicles will be SUVs. EVs, hybrids and AI-powered development are key highlights.
Maruti Suzuki is preparing one of its biggest product offensives for the Indian market. As competition continues to grow and customer preferences evolve, the country's largest carmaker is gearing up to launch nine new models over the next three years. Interestingly, seven of these upcoming vehicles will be SUVs, highlighting the brand's strong focus on the country's fastest-growing segment.
The upcoming lineup will not only include traditional petrol-powered models but also hybrids, flex-fuel vehicles and fully electric cars.

SUVs continue to dominate the Indian passenger vehicle market, and Maruti is keen to strengthen its position in the segment. The company already enjoys strong demand for models such as the Fronx, Brezza and Grand Vitara. Going forward, SUVs will play an even bigger role in its growth strategy.
Out of the nine new models planned, seven will be SUVs. These are expected to span multiple price points and powertrain options, allowing Maruti to target a broader customer base.
Maruti is not limiting itself to conventional petrol engines. The automaker plans to offer a diverse range of powertrain technologies, including hybrid, flex-fuel and fully electric vehicles.
This approach will help Maruti address changing consumer preferences while also meeting stricter emission norms. With EV adoption gradually increasing in India, the company is expected to expand its electric vehicle portfolio alongside its hybrid offerings.
One of the biggest changes happening behind the scenes is Maruti's increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning. The company aims to reduce its vehicle development cycle from around 48 months to 36 months.
By using AI-powered simulations and virtual testing, engineers can identify and resolve issues much earlier in the development process. This reduces the need for lengthy physical validation cycles and allows new products to reach the market faster.
Maruti is also working closely with suppliers and partners to improve efficiency. The company plans to involve suppliers earlier in the development process, allowing activities such as engineering, component design and manufacturing preparation to run simultaneously.
In addition, Maruti is targeting localisation levels of over 80%. Higher localisation can help reduce costs, lower dependence on imports and support faster production ramp-up when demand increases.
Maruti's aggressive product strategy comes at a time when demand remains strong. The company recently recorded its highest-ever monthly sales, crossing 1.90 lakh units in May. Exports were also impressive, reaching nearly 42,000 units and growing by more than 34%.
With a pipeline packed with SUVs, hybrids and EVs, Maruti is preparing for the next phase of growth while ensuring it remains competitive in an increasingly crowded market.
