Mahindra is ready to expand its SUV portfolio with a brand-new compact model, rumoured to carry forward the Bolero nameplate. Set for an early 2026 launch, this new Bolero model is expected to blend rugged styling with modern features, making it a serious rival to segment leaders like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara.
The upcoming SUV shares design cues with Mahindra’s Vision S concept, first shown at the Freedom_NU event. Measuring close to 4.3 meters, the production version has already been spotted testing on Indian roads. Its proportions, muscular stance, and upright design language suggest Mahindra is targeting lifestyle SUV buyers who want both toughness and comfort.

The new Bolero model will sport a bold grille similar to the Scorpio-N, round headlamps reminiscent of the Thar-Roxx, and a sculpted bumper with integrated LED fog lights. Side-hinged doors, squared-off wheel arches, tailgate-mounted spare wheel, and vertical tail lamps underline its traditional SUV DNA, while modern detailing ensures it appeals to urban buyers too.
Moving beyond the basic features of the existing Bolero, the new SUV is expected to bring premium equipment such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless connectivity, a digital driver’s display, panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, plus advanced driver-assistance (ADAS Level 2) technology.
The SUV is likely to use either Mahindra’s NU_IQ modular platform or the XUV 3XO’s architecture. Powertrain choices may include a 1.2-litre turbo petrol and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel, paired with manual and automatic gearboxes. A hybrid option could also be introduced later, strengthening its market appeal.
With its launch expected in early 2026, the new Bolero model promises to offer the toughness of a traditional Mahindra SUV along with the comfort and technology of a modern lifestyle vehicle. If priced right, it could become one of the strongest competitors in India’s fast-growing compact SUV segment.
