Kia India has recently updated the Seltos SUV with fresh variants and features. Now, the South Korean automaker is preparing the new-generation Seltos which will come with significant design updates and tech-loaded interior. The new Seltos could also receive a hybrid engine and an e-AWD setup.
Curious to know more? Here is what we know so far about the new-gen Kia Seltos:
Kia is currently testing the next-gen Seltos which is often spotted on roads. The brand has also announced its operation in India. Talking about the new design details, the SUV will get design inspiration from the Telluride flagship SUV.
Upfront, it will get vertically positioned 5 LED elements at both ends, giving it a whole new look compared to the current model. It is also believed that the new Seltos could have six parking sensors; four of these will be at the front while 2 will be on the sides. The rear profile will flaunt the all-new tail lamp setup, which is connected by the LED strip.
Apart from the exterior, the interior of the new-gen Seltos will also get a major overhaul. These changes could include a redesigned dashboard layout and new upholstery colour options.
Kia may expand the feature list to enhance the SUV's appeal to consumers. The next-gen Seltos is expected to get a 30-inch Infinity Display which will comprise two screens for infotainment and instrumentation (measuring 12.3 inches) and a third screen for climate controls, measuring 5 inches.
In addition, the new Seltos is expected to get a new double D-cut steering wheel, Kia Connect 2.0, front & rear ventilated seats, sliding & reclining second-row seats, and more.
With the launch of the new-gen Kia Seltos, the brand might feature a hybrid powertrain, combining a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric motor mounted on the rear axle. However, it is uncertain whether it will come to India; it is most likely to be available in the international market only.
As for the Indian market, Kia is expected to retain the current engine options for the new Seltos, which include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.5-litre turbo petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engine.
In addition to the hybrid powertrain, the SUV is said to feature an e-AWD system. It is expected to be powered by a 141bhp, 1.6-litre hybrid engine, similar to the one in the Hyundai Kona.
New Kia Seltos is expected to launch in India either at the end of this year or early 2026.
The upcoming Kia Seltos is expected to be priced slightly higher than the current model, which costs between Rs 11.13 lakh and Rs 20.50 lakh (ex-showroom). In terms of competition, the new-gen Kia Seltos will face tough rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun.
