Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch the Fronx facelift in the Indian market by 2025. Simultaneously, the automaker is developing its own hybrid engine, codenamed HEV. This engine will be introduced in a range of Maruti cars including Fronx facelift, Next-gen Brezza, Swift Hybrid, and New-gen Baleno. This entry-level hybrid engine is believed to be cheaper for the brand to produce compared to the parallel-only and series-parallel hybrid. Besides introducing the hybrid tech, Maruti will also introduce the ADAS suite for the upcoming Fronx. Continue reading to know more.
As aforementioned, the Fronx facelift will be the first model to debut Maruti's new hybrid engine. This unit will comprise a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z12E engine, a smaller battery pack of around 1.5-2kWh and one electric motor. The Z12E engine will act as a generator to charge the battery pack. It is the same engine introduced in the new Swift. After the Fronx facelift, the upcoming Baleno will receive this strong hybrid engine.
The Fronx facelift would be the first Maruti car to get an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). However, the brand might not offer a Level 2 ADAS kit like the Mahindra XUV 3XO. It is expected to come with a Level 1 ADAS kit only which will comprise features like Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision Warning, Lane Following Assist, High Beam Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Vehicle Departure Alert, and more
In the segment, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet provide Level 1 ADAS kits while Mahindra XUV 3XO get Level 2 ADAS tech. Following this, the Maruti Fronx facelift will be the fourth car to receive ADAS in the segment.
