Next-Gen Hyundai Verna Spied in India

The Next-Gen Hyundai Verna was earlier spied in South Korea while being road-tested; now the sedan has landed in India and was recently spotted in a highly camouflaged avatar

The 5th generation of the Hyundai Verna was introduced back in 2017. Since then the vehicle was given a mild update in 2020 bringing it up to speed for BS6 Emission Norms. With competitors increasing their interest in the sedan segment, it is time for the Korean automaker to launch the next generation of the Verna in India.

Codenamed BN7, the next-generation of the sedan is expected to make its global debut later this year with an India launch expected by the mid of 2023. Let us now take a closer look at what we know so far about the upcoming Hyundai Verna:

The exterior design of the New Gen Hyundai Verna is hard to take a note of, owing to the heavy camouflage but the sedan seems to have grown in dimensions. The vehicle will most likely follow Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness philosophy while taking design inspiration from the latest generation Elantra and the Sonata with a wide front grille flanked by sleek headlamps on either side. The low slung sedan is expected to feature a new design for the alloy wheels along with a revised front and rear bumper. It is also expected to get a fastback-like styling with a sloping roofline along with a set of new LED tail lamps connected by a reflective strip on the tailgate.

Coming to the interior, the car will sport a new dashboard layout as well as a new centre console. The overall cabin will be more spacious than the outgoing model and is expected to be loaded with the latest tech as per the industry standards. Its feature list could include an all-new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with connected car tech, digital instrument cluster, electric adjust for the driver seat, sunroof, standard 6 airbags and more.

The sedan is expected to continue with the same powertrain options as the outgoing model. The 1.5 MPi petrol and 1.5 CRDi diesel engines will be offered with both manual and automatic transmission along with a mild hybrid system. A sportier version could also be on the cards featuring a 1.0 Turbo GDi engine with a 7-speed DCT.

When launched, the New Gen Verna will rival the likes of Honda City, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Skoda Slavia and the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus in its segment.
