French automaker Renault will be launching the New Third-Gen Duster SUV globally sometime in 2024. The brand will likely introduce the next-gen model in India sometime in the year 2025. The First-Gen Duster was one of the best-selling Renaults in the country, and was one of the pioneers of the then burgeoning compact SUV segment. The all-new model will be slightly more oriented towards the active and lifestyle segment but will still retain the Duster’s core strength as a great daily driver. Here is what to expect from the upcoming SUV.
In global markets, the Duster is sold by Renault’s sister brand Dacia. While the brand is yet to officially reveal the Third-Gen model, reports suggest that the SUV will be designed under the automaker’s ‘less is more’ approach. Recent leaked spy shots of the four-wheeler reveal that the vehicle will have a more rugged and muscular design in comparison to the current model.
It will have a boxier silhouette, with a flatter front end and longer overhangs with squared-off edges. The front end will feature Dacia’s new, sleeker fascia with Y-shaped LED DRLs, new badge, chrome elements on the grille, and a bumper with a big aluminium faux skid plate. The side profile will offer larger wheel arches and a strong shoulder line while the rear will provide new LED taillights and a chunky bumper.
Latest reports also suggest that the SUV’s interior will be more spacious than the current model and would have a modular roof storage system designed to accommodate a tent for overnight camping. Renault aims that the new Duster will retain its strengths as an affordable and highly capable SUV as the brand moves forward with the electrification of its entire product lineup.
While the manufacturer has not revealed any details yet, we expect it to offer the compact SUV with both petrol and diesel powertrain options. It will include a 1-litre petrol, a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol, or a 1.5-litre turbo diesel. The automaker is expected to introduce both pure EV and strong-hybrid variants of the SUV sometime in the near future.
Its off-road capabilities will be a priority for the brand as the current Duster is among the most affordable All-Wheel Drive SUVs on sale globally. It will be underpinned by Renault-Nissan’s CMF-B platform that is already being used by multiple Renault, Dacia, and Nissan models.
As per the available information Renault will introduce the upcoming SUV in India by 2025. Upon launch, it will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, MG Astor, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, VW Taigun, and the Škoda Kushaq.
