Tata Motors has started accepting bookings for the New Altroz iCNG at a token of Rs 21,000. Prices are expected to be announced by the end of this month, with deliveries scheduled to begin from May 2023. The Altroz iCNG will become the fourth CNG model in Tata’s lineup, following the Tiago, Tiago NRG, and Tigor CNG. We now take a closer look.

Tata Altroz iCNG’s exterior design remains identical to its petrol-powered model, except for the new iCNG badge on the boot lid. Moving inside, again there are no changes to the interior layout of the hatchback. This is no bad thing as the Altroz already has one of the best cabins in the segment. It also gets Tata’s dual-cylinder setup which splits the CNG cylinders into two smaller 30-litre tanks under the boot floor, freeing up the boot space.

In terms of features, it is set to offer a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, keyless entry, voice-activated sunroof, auto climate control, push-button start/stop, rear parking camera with sensors, rear AC vents, and more.

The Altroz iCNG will come powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that will deliver a maximum power output of 77 bhp with 97 Nm of peak torque. The power plant will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The hatchback is believed to start directly in CNG mode unlike its rivals.

Tata will offer the Altroz iCNG in four variants - XE, XM+, XZ, and XZ+. While prices are yet to be announced, expect the CNG model to cost around Rs 1 lakh more than its petrol sibling.
Upon launch, the Tata Altroz iCNG will rival the likes of the Maruti Baleno CNG and Toyota Glanza CNG in its category.
