A year after its launch, Tata Motors is planning to mildly update the Punch. The micro-SUV has quickly become a popular model for the automaker, posting impressive sales figures every month. Now, the latest reports suggest that Tata cars will be adding a digital instrument cluster as standard in the Punch soon.
Tata Punch: To Get New Digital Instrument Cluster
Recent spy shots have revealed that the Tata Punch will be getting a new digital instrument display as standard. Lower variants will get the same 4-inch unit currently doing duty on models like the Tiago, Tigor and the new Nexon Smart variant. It displays vital information like speed, odometer, trip meter, warning lights and more. This will help in pricing the Punch even more aggressively against the Hyundai Exter, which features a digital instrument cluster as well.
Meanwhile, the flagship Creative version of the Punch will continue to be offered with the semi-digital instrument cluster. While it may sound counter-intuitive, the semi-digital unit is actually larger and offers more features than the full-digital unit.
Tata Punch: Powertrain Details
The Tata Punch is offered with a 1.2-litre N/A three-cylinder petrol motor that makes 84 bhp with 113 Nm of peak torque. It is also offered in a CNG variant that pumps out 76 bhp with 97 Nm of max torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
