Top automakers including Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki and JSW MG Motor India are planning to introduce their respective 7-seater SUVs in the country in 2025. These upcoming 7-seater SUVs will come in different segments, based on their size, powertrain and features on offer. Here is a list of top 4 7-seater SUVs to be launched in India in 2025.
Unveiled at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo, the Gloster-based SUV MG Majestor will be launched in the country by mid-2025. The SUV has been spotted multiple times during its test rounds. It will sit above the Gloster SUV in JSW MG Motor India line-up and will come as a direct challenger to the Toyota Fortuner and Skoda Kodiaq.
Compared to the Gloster, the new MG Majestor will have new front and rear styling along with a more premium and feature-loaded cabin. The SUV adorns muscular and aggressive design language, featuring an all-new front fascia. It comes with a prominent wider front grille, vertically stacked LED headlamps, and angular daytime running lights. It has chunky bumper with silver finish. The rear has connected LED tail-lights, revised tailgate with huge 'MAJESTOR' lettering and dual exhaust pipes.
Inside the cabin, the MG Majestor gets a more premium looking dashboard layout and new features. It has a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable front seats, ventilated seats, a digital driver's display, powered tailgate and others. The SUV will have multiple airbags, a 360-degree surround view camera, and a LEVEL 2 ADAS suite. The MG Majestor will be powered by the same 216bhp, 2.0-litre, twin-turbo diesel engine with an automatic gearbox option.
Maruti Suzuki has confirmed to launch the 3-row version of the Grand Vitara SUV in India towards the fag end of 2025. Testing of the SUV has already been started on the Indian roads. The 7-seater Grand Vitara will be manufactured at Maruti Suzuki's new Kharkhoda based production facility in Haryana. Codenamed Y17, the new 7-seater Maruti SUV will challenge the likes of the Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus and Tata Safari.
It will be longer than the existing Grand Vitara, and the wheelbase is also expected to be increased to accommodate third row passenger seat. The company will also make some design changes to give it a different look. The SUV is likely to receive a newly designed front fascia, a revamped rear, extended body, and new set of alloys. The cabin will receive major changes in the form of new features such as a bigger touchscreen infotainment unit, new upholstery and a digital driver's display.
The 7-seater Grand Vitara will come with ADAS suite with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, auto high beam and others. In terms of features, the SUV will have a panoramic sunroof, wireless connectivity, ventilated seats, six airbags, ESC and TPMS. It is likely to be offered with two engine options - a 102bhp, 1.5L 4-cylinder NA petrol and a 114bhp, 1.5L strong hybrid petrol engine.
The homegrown UV maker, Mahindra will launch the 7-seater XEV 7e electric SUV in the country in the second half of 2025. It is basically the production version of the Mahindra XUV.e8, which was unveiled in 2022-23. The 7-seater practical electric SUV will share design elements with the recently launched Mahindra XEV 9e.
Inside the cabin, the electric SUV will come with dual-tone black and white interior scheme with contrasting piano black finish on the centre console. The dashboard is dominated by a triple screen setup comprising of a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch digital driver's display and a similarly sized co-passenger display. In terms of features, the SUV will have multi-zone climate control, a premium 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function and ventilation, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and others.
For safety and security, the SUV will have Auto Park feature, 7 airbags, a 360-degree surround view camera, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, a TPMS and LEVEL 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) with five radars and one camera. The electric SUV will likely to come with 59kWh and 79kWh battery pack options with a rear-axle-mounted electric motor. It will have a claimed range of over 500km in a full charge. The electric SUV will also get a dual-motor AWD setup.
