The long-awaited Land Cruiser 250 will finally make its India debut at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Global Expo. To be called the Land Cruiser Prado, the new SUV will be positioned below the LC300 in India. While the exact launch date is yet to be announced, we expect the new LC250 to go on sale in the country at the Auto Expo event or in February 2025.
The new LC250 will be a luxury off-roader SUV and will take on the likes of the Range Rover Velar, BMW X3, Audi Q5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC. The new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is expected to be priced around Rs 1 - 1.10 crore (ex-showroom).
In the global markets, the LC250 is available with multiple engine options including a 2.4L turbo petrol hybrid, a 2.4L turbo petrol, a 2.8L diesel, a 2.8L diesel mild hybrid and a 2.7L petrol. Power output ranges from 163PS to 330PS, and the higher turbo-hybrid powertrain offers 630Nm of torque.
In the Indian market, the new Land Cruiser Prado gets a 2.8L turbo diesel engine with a mild hybrid setup. The same powertrain could also be offered with the Fortuner SUV, which currently has a 2.8L diesel unit sans mild-hybrid tech. The engine is likely to be paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
It is built on the same GA-F platform that underpins the LC300 Series. Toyota engineers have increased the rigidity of the frame by 50%, which makes it more suitable for tough terrains. In terms of proportions, the new Land Cruiser 250 is 4,920mm long, 1,980mm wide and 1,870mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,850mm. The SUV has a fuel tank capacity of 87-litres.
The new LC250 comes with an all-black interior scheme with dashboard housing two large screens for infotainment and driver's info. It has a big steering wheel, which is ideal for an off-road focused SUV. The central console houses plenty of storage options. Grand handles are placed on the A-pillar, which are usable during offroad trails. The SUV gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital driver's display, and multi-zone climate control. Other features include electrically adjustable front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless phone charger, push-button start-stop, and 10 airbags.
