September 2025 has been a thrilling month for the automotive industry with the launch of several eagerly awaited SUVs. Earlier this month, we saw the debut of the Maruti Victoris, Citroen Basalt X, VinFast VF6, and VinFast VF7. But the excitement doesn’t stop there!
Two more highly anticipated launches are set to take place in the latter half of the month - the Mahindra Thar 3-door facelift and the Volvo EX30.
These models are all set to make waves in their respective segments. Let’s take a closer look.
The iconic Mahindra Thar 3-door is getting a facelift, bringing in a host of new features and design updates. Set to launch in the latter half of September 2025, the updated Thar has already been spotted during test runs. Here’s what we can expect from the 2025 model.
The new Mahindra Thar will sport a redesigned front fascia inspired by the Thar Roxx, with a new grille featuring double-stacked slats, a revised bumper, and redesigned headlamps. Additionally, the updated Thar will come with fresh alloy wheels, redesigned taillights, and a new rear bumper.
Inside, the Thar 3-door facelift will feature a larger touchscreen infotainment system with the latest user interface. There will also be a new electric steering wheel and an updated driver’s display. For the first time, the Thar will offer ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, and a 360-degree camera, along with Level-2 ADAS for added safety.
Mechanically, the new Thar will retain the same engine options as the current model, including the 2.0L turbo petrol, 1.5L turbo diesel, and 2.2L turbo diesel engines. It will be available with both RWD and 4WD options, making it a versatile choice for off-road lovers.
The Thar 3-door facelift will continue to compete against other off-road SUVs like the Force Gurkha and the upcoming Suzuki Jimny.

The Volvo EX30, the Swedish automaker’s entry-level electric SUV, is set to launch in India in late September 2025. This groundbreaking electric vehicle is designed for those who want a blend of luxury, sustainability, and cutting-edge technology.
The EX30 will feature a 69kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt battery pack paired with a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 272hp and 343Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 5.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 180km/h. With a WLTP-certified range of 480km, it’s an ideal vehicle for city drives and long road trips alike.
The EX30 stands out with its eco-friendly design, using recycled materials in place of leather. Inside, it features a 12.3-inch vertically oriented infotainment touchscreen and a minimalistic dashboard. The cabin also includes a glass roof, wireless Apple CarPlay, a Harman Kardon sound system, and Level 2 ADAS for a safe and connected driving experience.
When it comes to charging, the Volvo EX30 supports fast charging with a 150kW DC charger, reaching 80% charge in just 25 minutes. For home charging, it can be fully charged in around 10 hours with a 7.4kW charger.
Volvo EX30 will rival premium electric SUVs such as the BMW iX1, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Mercedes-Benz EQA.
