Renault will launch three SUVs with petrol and hybrid powertrains Next-gen Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos hybrids arriving in 2027 JSW Motors to launch Jetour T2 PHEV by Diwali 2026
The Indian automotive market is ready to enter an era of “Power of Choice,” with 2026 and 2027 set to witness arrival of several new products. Whether you are looking for the range of a hybrid or the refined power of a turbo-petrol, there is a long list of new cars heading to our market with multiple powertrains.
Here is the comprehensive list of upcoming cars with petrol and hybrid powertrains in the Indian market -

Renault had showcased the Bridger concept, which previews the brand’s upcoming sub-4 meter SUV. The company has confirmed that the production-spec Renault Bridger will be launched in the country in 2027. This compact SUV is designed to bridge the gap between the Kiger and the Duster.
The production-ready Renault Bridger will be offered with a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine, which is likely to be a 3-cylinder turbo unit. This is likely to produce around 114bhp of power and 190Nm of torque, and is paired to either a 6-speed manual or an automatic unit. The French automaker, Renault will also introduce a strong hybrid version of the SUV at a later stage. Adding to it, the Bridger will also be offered with an electric powertrain.

Renault has already introduced the new-gen Duster with two turbo petrol engines. The company has also announced its hybrid version, which is scheduled to be launched by October 2026, festive season. Its hybrid version will be equipped with a 109bhp, 1.8L, 4-cylinder petrol engine paired with a 49bhp electric motor, a 1.4kWh battery pack and a 20bhp hybrid starter generator (HSG). The combined power and torque output stands at 160bhp and 172Nm, respectively. It is set to be the most powerful hybrid vehicle in its category.
The new Renault Duster hybrid will aim to achieve a fuel efficiency of around 24-26kmpl. It is expected to offer a range of nearly 1,000 km on a single tank. It is estimated to be priced somewhere around Rs 19 lakh to Rs 25 lakh, ex-showroom.

Renault has also announced an all-new 7-seater SUV, which will be based on the new RGMP (Renault Global Modular Platform). It will be a 7-seater derivative of the Bigster or the Boreal on sale in the global markets. In fact, testing of the SUV has already been started in India. The RGMP architecture is designed to accommodate vehicle measuring up to 4.7 meters in length with a maximum wheelbase of 2.74 meters. The Dacia Bigster and Renault Boreal also ride on 2.74 meters long wheelbase and measures around 4.6 meters in length.
The SUV will be offered with two engines, including a 1.3-litre, turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.8L strong hybrid powertrain. This SUV is also likely to receive an AWD drivetrain. While the official launch date is yet to be announced, we expect the new Bigster/Boreal will go on sale in the first half of 2027.
Maruti Suzuki is developing an all-new series hybrid powertrain, which will power the sub-4 meter cars. This is a Range Extender setup, where engine charges the battery and the wheels are driven by an electric motor. The hybrid setup will utilise the 1.2L Z12E 3-cylinder petrol engine, which acts purely as a generator to charge a battery pack. The SUV will run entirely by an electric motor. MSIL is targeting a record-breaking mileage of 30-35kmpl, making the new Fronx hybrid the most fuel-efficient SUV in India.

Hyundai and Kia have already announced that they will launch hybrid engine options in the Indian market. While Hyundai will launch an all-new Ni1i 7-seater SUV, next-gen Creta and Palisade with hybrid powertrains, Kia will introduce the Sorento 7-seater and new Seltos in the country. The next-gen Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos will receive hybrid powertrain in 2027. Both will get an all-new hybrid engine, featuring a 1.5L NA petrol engine with an electric motor and a small battery pack.

JSW Motors is preparing to debut its first independent passenger vehicle, the Jetour T2 PHEV. This plug-in hybrid vehicle is set to remove two biggest issues with big SUVs, Range Anxiety and Fuel Efficiency. It is scheduled to be launched by Diwali 2026, festive season. Adding to it, the company is also likely to get a 1.5L turbo petrol engine.
The new Jetour T2 is powered by a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with a dual-motor setup paired with a 26.7 kWh battery pack. The combined power and torque output stands at 381hp and 610Nm, respectively. For daily city commutes, the PHEV offers an electric-only range of around 139km. This engine is paired to a 3-speed DHT (Dedicated Hybrid Transmission), which is claimed to be more efficient at managing power between the engine and motors than a standard CVT.
