Honda, Hyundai, Tata, Kia, and others are bringing new compact SUVs. Electric, hybrid, petrol, and CNG options to launch by 2028. More space, better tech, and modern designs for Indian families.
The compact SUV segment in India has been one of the busiest and most competitive spaces in the auto industry. Over the next couple of years, we can expect a wave of new launches and updates, including electric, hybrid, CNG, and petrol-powered options. Here’s a look at 10 compact SUVs set to hit Indian roads between 2026 and 2028.
Honda is finally entering the sub-4-metre SUV segment in India. Expected in early 2028, this SUV will likely have a 1.2-litre petrol engine with potential hybrid technology. It could be based on the latest Amaze platform, giving Honda a chance to compete in a segment it has missed so far.

Hyundai is preparing a compact electric SUV expected in late 2026 or early 2027. With around 400 km of real-world range, this EV will target customers looking for an affordable, mainstream electric option.
The next-generation Tata Nexon could arrive in late 2027. It is expected to feature a longer wheelbase, fully revised body, and multiple powertrains including turbo petrol, iCNG, and pure electric, maintaining the versatility that made it India’s top-selling compact SUV.
The new Kia Sonet is also likely by late 2027, moving to a new platform with extended dimensions. Updates inside and out will bring modern tech, refreshed design, and better interiors.
Renault will enter the compact SUV segment with the Bridger in mid-2027. It will feature 48V mild hybrid technology, bringing hybrid options to a price point that currently has none.

Volkswagen is expected to bring the Tera in mid-2027. Targeted at the premium end of the segment, it will use the MQB A0 IN architecture, a 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol engine, and share some design cues with the Kylaq.
The Mahindra Vision S is expected in early 2027. Built on the NU IQ platform, it will feature 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines. Essentially a smaller Scorpio N, it will have upright SUV proportions and a bold presence.
The Brezza facelift is closer to launch. It will offer factory-fitted CNG with an underbody tank and a six-speed manual gearbox, making it more practical for Indian families.
Kia will expand its electric SUV portfolio with the Syros EV in the compact segment. It will help the brand increase its EV presence in India’s growing electric SUV market.
The VinFast VF 3 is a micro SUV with an 18.6 kWh battery pack. Positioned at a lower price point, it aims to target customers looking for affordable electric SUVs with modern features.
