New Renault Bridger SUV Coming in 2027 – Petrol, Hybrid & EV Options Planned

Renault Bridger SUV arriving in 2027 with multiple powertrains.  It’s expected to carry boxy design, spacious cabin and premium features.

Renault India has announced plans to expand its product portfolio to seven models by 2030. Earlier this year, the carmaker introduced the third-generation Renault Duster with turbocharged petrol engine options. The SUV lineup is set to grow further with a hybrid iteration during the 2026 Diwali season.

The Renault Duster-based three-row SUV (unveiled as the Renault Boreal in Europe last year) and the production-ready Renault Bridger sub-4m rugged lifestyle SUV are slated to join the bandwagon in 2027.

Competition

The Renault Bridger will go head-to-head against the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Mahindra XUV 3XO and other subcompact SUVs. However, in terms of pricing and positioning, it’s closest rivals will be the upcoming Mahindra Vision S and Tata Scarlet. The new Renault subcompact SUV will be produced at the carmaker’s Chennai-based facility and will also be exported to global markets.

Multiple Engine Options

Based on the R-GMP platform, which supports multiple powertrains, the Bridger is expected to be offered with petrol, hybrid and electric powertrain options. According to reports, Renault’s all-new 1.2L, three-cylinder MPFI turbocharged petrol engine will debut in the Bridger. This new engine will essentially be a derivative of the Duster’s 1.3L TGDi engine. It’s expected to deliver power worth around 120bhp. Renault is likely to introduce an electrified version of this 1.2L engine for the subcompact SUV.

Spacious Cabin & Advanced Tech

Renault has confirmed that the Bridger will offer a class-leading rear knee room of 200mm along with the claimed “exceptional” cabin space. The concept version features a 400-litre boot space, which if retained in the production model, will be the largest in the segment. Renault is expected to pack the Bridger with several advanced features and technologies.

The production-ready Renault Bridger is likely to stay true to its concept, featuring a boxy and muscular stance. The front fascia will look aggressive with a large blacked-out grille, strake-like LED lights with illuminated ‘RENAULT’ badging in the middle, pronounced bonnet, wide air dam and muscular skid plate.

Other highlights will include square-spoke alloy wheels, squarish fenders, C-pillar integrated rear door handles, sharply designed LED taillamps, sporty rear bumper with skid plate and a tailgate mounted spare wheel.
