Volkswagen has officially confirmed that the new-gen Tiguan R-Line will launch in India on April 14, 2025. The latest-gen Tiguan made its global debut in September 2023, and now its sportier version 'R-Line, is set to arrive in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). Bookings for the Tiguan R-Line are expected to open soon, with more details to be revealed in the coming weeks.
The Tiguan R-Line will retain the overall design of the standard model with some sportier elements. It will feature twin-pod LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs, connected by a gloss black trim that will include an ‘R’ badge. The front bumper will have large air intakes with diamond-shaped accents. It will ride on dual-tone 20-inch alloy wheels and have an ‘R’ badge on the front doors.
At the rear, the Tiguan R-Line will come with connected LED taillights featuring pixelated detailing and the ‘Tiguan’ logo on the tailgate. The rear bumper will also incorporate diamond-shaped elements, similar to the front.
Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line is expected to feature an all-black cabin theme with black seat upholstery. The dashboard may have a gloss black strip running across its length with integrated lighting elements. It will come equipped with a 12.9-inch touchscreen, a fully digital driver’s display, a wireless phone charger, a panoramic sunroof, a heads-up display, and heated and ventilated front seats with electronic adjustments.
For safety, the Tiguan R-Line includes multiple airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and an electronic parking brake. It may also offer advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as lane keep assist, forward collision mitigation, and adaptive cruise control.
Globally, the Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line is offered in three engine options: two petrol, one diesel, and a plug-in hybrid. The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine comes in two power outputs: 201 bhp with 320 Nm of torque and a higher-spec variant producing 261 bhp and 400 Nm of torque. Both versions are paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The 261 bhp variant is the one set to launch in India.
Expected to be priced around Rs. 50 lakh, the Tiguan R-Line will serve as Volkswagen’s flagship SUV in India.
