JSW MG Motor India is slowly increasing its EV sales in the fast growing Indian auto industry. The company has a strong EV portfolio, which will soon welcome two more models including the MG Cyberster and MG M9 MPV. The brand's latest electric vehicle, the MG Windsor EV has received an overwhelming response from buyers and is leading the EV sales in the market. However, the MPV has started to show some decline in sales. In order to further boost sales, MG Motor is now ready to launch a 50kWh version of the MG Windsor EV in India.
JSW MG Motor India is yet to make an official announcement on the launch of the higher-spec Windsor EV. However, our sources reveal that the brand is ready with the EV and the 50kWh version of the MG Windsor EV could be launched in April 2025.
The Windsor EV will continue to be offered with the existing 38kWh battery pack coupled to a front axle-mounted electric motor. The powertrain is claimed to offer 136bhp of peak power and a peak torque of 200Nm. It offers four driving modes - Eco, Eco+, Normal and Sport.
For people not in the know, the Windsor EV is based on the Cloud EV on sale in select international markets. The 2025 MG Windsor EV is likely to get a 50kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which is available in the global-spec Cloud EV and the ZS EV. It is claimed to offer a range of up to 460km in a single charge.
The current model misses out on some of the key features including ADAS. Similar to the Cloud EV, the 2025 MG Windsor EV with a bigger battery pack could get ADAS tech. It will offer features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane assist and others.
The existing model is available in the price bracket of Rs 14 lakh to Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). It is expected that the 2025 Windsor EV will cost somewhere between Rs 16 lakh to Rs 18 lakh. At this price point, the electric vehicle will take on the likes of the Tata Curvv EV and the Hyundai Creta Electric.
