We reported earlier that Mahindra is preparing the updated versions of the Thar, XUV700 and Scorpio N along with the new SUVs including the XEV 7e, BE Rall-E and the next-gen Bolero. It was speculated that the updated versions of the Thar, XUV700 and Scorpio will be launched before the end of this year. A new media report claims that the Mahindra Thar and XUV700 facelifts will be launched in our market in 2026.
The new Thar facelift is expected to share features with the new Thar Roxx. In terms of equipment, the new Mahindra Thar could get a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 10.25-inch digital driver's display. The lifestyle SUV is likely to be fitted with features like ventilated front seats and wireless phone charger.
On the outside, the 2026 Mahindra Thar facelift could get a slightly revised front fascia that houses new grille, newly designed front bumper, new alloy wheels, and LED lighting system with new LED daytime running lamps.
The SUV is expected to receive 6 airbags as standard safety features. Similar to the Thar Roxx, the Thar facelift is likely to get a 360-degree surround view camera and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System). The ADAS features include adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind spot monitoring, collision avoidance system and others.
The Mahindra Thar facelift will most likely to retain the existing engine options - a 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel, a 2.0L turbo petrol, and a 2.0L turbo diesel. The entry-level version is available with 1.5L engine with the RWD layout, and this engine produces 117bhp and 300Nm of torque. Transmission choices could include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
The 2.0L turbo petrol and diesel engines produces 150bhp and 300Nm, and 130bhp and 300Nm, respectively. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
