Kia Motor India has just issued a voluntary recall for the Carens over potential software issue with the digital instrument cluster. This is the second recall for the popular MPV in the last 10 months and is suspected to have affected around 30,000 units.
Kia says the recall is to fix a problem with the Carens’ digital instrument cluster in which it does not boot up properly and goes blank. The problem is affecting vehicles produced between September 2022 and March 2023. Owners of the affected units will be contacted and asked to come to their nearest service center for an inspection and a software update if required.
The automaker has issued multiple recalls over the past few years. It recalled units of the KIA Seltos diesel in October 2019 and March 2020 for a fuel pump issue.
This is the second recall for the KIA Carens, with the first recall in October 2022 due to an airbag control unit issue that was fixed via a software update.
Prices for the Kia Carens start from Rs 10.45 lakh (ex-showroom) - Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The MPV currently has a period of around 10 months, depending on the variant.
Kia is gearing up to introduce the new Seltos in India next month. The SUV has received a major refresh with an updated front and rear end that look fresh and sharper than the outgoing model. The interior too has been given an update with new features like a panoramic sunroof and ADAS-features. Prices for the KIA Seltos Facelift will be announced on July 5.
Tata Altroz 2025 facelift teased with refreshed design, new features like 10.25-inch screen, LED lights, and 6 airbags. Launching on May 22.
