The auto industry was eager to know whether Kia would call its upcoming compact SUV Syros or Clavis. However, a recent report confirmed that the Kia's next car will be called Syros which will carry some design elements from their flagship electric SUV, the EV9. The new Syros will be the first Kia 2.0 SUV model on the market. A set of sketch images has also surfaced online, hinting at its design and features. Let's move further!
Based on Kia's evolved Design 2.0 philosophy, the new Syros will feature high-level advancements in space, safety, and technology. Its boxy shape will look like the rugged version of the Mahindra XUV 3XO and Maruti Suzuki Brezza. Some of its exterior features include uniquely shaped headlamps, LED DRLs, door-mounted ORVMs, Squared-off wheel arches, roof integrated spoiler, and L-shaped LED taillights.
Along with the new design, the interior of the compact SUV will carry top-notch tech features. Previous shots have also confirmed the availability of ventilated front seats, panoramic sunroof, powered driver's seat, and more.
On the safety front, the Kia Syros sub 4m SUV will offer six airbags, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, 360-degree camera, rear disc brakes, and ABS with EBD.
Kia Syros engine details are yet to be confirmed. However, we can expect it to get a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. This 3-cylinder unit is tuned to deliver 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque. It could be paired with a 6-speed manual and a dual-clutch automatic transmission. If it gets the 1.5-litre diesel engine, it will be mated to manual and torque converter automatic transmission. An electric avatar of the Kia Syros is also expected in the future which could carry a battery pack of 40-45 kWh, offering a range of over 400 km.
