Mahindra XEV 7e is the production version of XUV.e8 concept Debut likely at 2025 Bharat Mobility Show Expected to be launched in India in 2025
Mahindra has recently introduced the two all-new Born-electric SUVs, called the BE 6e and XEV 9e in the country. While the BE 6e is the production version of the BE.05, the Mahindra XEV 9e is the production-ready XUV.e9. Similarly, the XUV.e8 will be introduced as the new Mahindra XEV 7e in the country in 2025. This pure electric SUV will be similar in size as the popular XUV700.
In fact, the Mahindra XEV 7e images have been leaked online revealing its design. The electric SUV appears largely similar to the original concept that debuted in 2022. It will be a 3-row electric SUV based on the INGLO architecture. The homegrown UV maker has trademarked the XEV 7e nameplate; however, official announcement is yet to be made. Going by the name, the new e-SUV is expected to be positioned between the XEV 9e and the BE 6e.
The Mahindra XEV 7e will arrive as a more conventional and practical 3-row electric SUV. The front styling looks similar to the XEV 9e, featuring closed-out grille and dual-tone bumper. It features the XEV 9e-like headlamp setup with LED DRLs forming the unique U shape in reverse. The side profile looks exactly identical to the XUV700, except for the newly styled EV-specific wheel design. In fact, the alloy-wheel design is similar to the ones offered in the new XEV 9e. The rear styling has EV-specific design changes; however, the overall shape is identical to the XUV700.
The cabin colour theme and design layout of the dashboard will have similarities with the XEV 9e. Dashboard will be dominated by three 12.3-inch screens including a touchscreen infotainment, a digital driver's display and a co-passenger screen. It is likely to be offered in both 6 and 7-seat layout with former having captain chairs in the second-row. The e-SUV will have more space in the second-row compared to the XEV 9e, which has Coupe-styling with sloping roofline.
The exact specifications of the new Mahindra XEV 7e are yet to be revealed. We expect the new model to get the same set of battery packs - 59kWh and 79kWh - offered with the XEV 9e and BE 6e. The big update is that the e-SUV could receive dual-motor all-wheel-drive set-up, while a rear-wheel-drive layout will come as a standard. The 59kWh battery pack is claimed to deliver 228bhp, while the 79kWh battery pack offers 281bhp. Both variants produce 380Nm of torque.
As a reminder, the XUV.e8 concept measures 4740mm in length, 1900mm in width and 1760mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2762mm. It is 45mm longer, 10mm wider and 5mm taller than the XUV700. In fact, the e-SUV has a 7mm longer wheelbase compared to the Mahindra XUV700.
The exact launch details of the new XEV 7e are yet to be revealed, but we expect the e-SUV to arrive sometime in mid-2025. The production version of the Mahindra XEV 7e is expected to be revealed at the Bharat Mobility Show in January 2025.
