As the Mahindra XEV 9S release date approaches, excitement in the electric vehicle (EV) world is reaching a fever pitch. Set to debut globally on November 27, the XEV 9S is Mahindra’s much-anticipated electric 7-seater SUV. If you’ve been following the XUV700 electric launch, you’ll know that the XEV 9S is the electric version of Mahindra’s popular XUV700, and it comes with some exciting new features and a completely fresh look.

Mahindra XEV 9S is a new electric SUV that takes design inspiration from the XUV700, but with key upgrades and a sleeker look. Built on Mahindra’s new INGLO electric platform, it’s a major step forward for the brand in the electric car market. While we’ve seen some teaser images and spy shots, it’s clear the XEV 9S is set to be a real standout in the world of electric vehicles.
The excitement around the Mahindra XEV 9S is hard to miss, and for good reason. First, it’s the electric version of the popular XUV700, a model that’s already won hearts in India. Second, Mahindra has packed the XEV 9S with state-of-the-art tech and luxury features, making it one of the most-awaited electric cars of 2025. And with the increasing demand for EVs and Mahindra’s strong track record in the SUV market, the XEV 9S is set to raise the bar for electric vehicles.
If you’re wondering how the XEV 9S differs from the XUV700, you’re in for a treat. The XEV 9S may share a similar overall silhouette, but it will feature some major design updates.
One of the standout features is the completely revamped front fascia, which includes a blanked-off grille (because of course, it’s an EV) and a full-width LED light bar, giving the SUV a futuristic look. The triangular LED headlights, which bear a resemblance to the ones seen on the XEV 9e.
The XEV 9S will also sport new, aerodynamically designed alloy wheels, flush door handles, and gloss-black cladding around the wheel arches. At the rear, it will feature connected LED tail lamps and a tweaked bumper, with Mahindra potentially offering custom colour options to make the XEV 9S stand out from its internal combustion engine sibling, the XUV700.
Not just on the outside, the Mahindra XEV 9S surely gives you a premium experience inside with tech and comfort combined. The SUV will be equipped with a three-screen setup, including a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 12.3-inch co-driver entertainment screen.
With a 7-seater layout, the XEV 9S will offer ample space for families and long trips. Features like powered front seats, wireless phone chargers, dual-zone climate control, and a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system will make your every drive joyful. Additionally, the SUV will likely come with multi-colour ambient lighting and a head-up display.
As for safety, expect top-tier features, including 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS.
When it comes to performance, the XEV 9S will offer a choice of two battery packs - a 59 kWh and a 79 kWh option. The 59 kWh battery is expected to provide a range of around 542 km, while the 79 kWh battery will offer a longer range of up to 656 km on a full charge. Both battery packs will be paired with a rear-wheel-drive (RWD) system, with the possibility of an all-wheel-drive option as well.
The XEV 9S will have power outputs of 231 PS and 286 PS, with torque ratings of 380 Nm for both variants. These figures should make the XEV 9S not only efficient but also powerful. Real-world range estimates suggest the XEV 9S will easily cover up to 500 km on a single charge.
With the XEV 9S being Mahindra’s flagship electric SUV, it will go up against competitors like the Tata Harrier EV and other electric SUVs in the market. While exact pricing is still to be confirmed, the XEV 9S is expected to be priced similarly to the XEV 9e, which starts around Rs 21 lakh (ex-showroom). Given its range, design, and features, the XEV 9S will undoubtedly provide tough competition in the fast-growing EV market.
