Mahindra is all set to give a major upgrade to its flagship XUV700 SUV, which has been spotted testing multiple times. Similar to the XUV 3XO, the XUV700 facelift is expected to be called the Mahindra XUV 7XO. In fact, the company has already trademarked the new XUV 7XO nameplate in India.
If media reports are to be believed, production of the new Mahindra XUV 7XO will begin in December 2025. The SUV is expected to be launched sometime in January 2026. It will directly rival the Tata Safari, which will soon receive a new 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine.
The new Mahindra XUV 7XO is likely to retain the engine choices, including a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder turbo diesel. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The diesel automatic will continue to be offered with both FWD and all-wheel-drive option.
The 2026 Mahindra XUV 7XO will receive cosmetic design and interior changes along with a longer list of features. In terms of styling, the new XUV700 facelift will retain its overall shape and majority of the changes are made to its front fascia.
The XUV 7XO will come with a reworked front grille, flanked by a new LED headlamp set-up with a redesigned C-shaped LED DRL signature. Other design changes could include new front and rear bumpers, newly designed alloys and an updated tail-light.
Majority of the changes will be made inside the cabin. It will have a new dashboard layout, which is similar to the XEV 9e. The SUV will come with a triple screen dashboard comprising a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, a 12.3-inch co-entertainment screen and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display.
It is likely to get Harman/Kardon speakers with Dolby Atmos tech for an immersive sound experience. The SUV could also get a six-seater version with captain seats in the second-row. The spy images confirm that the SUV will have an auto dimming IRVM and front parking sensors. The SUV could also get an updated ADAS LEVEL 2+ system along with self parking feature.
