May 2025 SUV Sales: Mahindra Scorpio Beats Nexon, Fronx; Maruti Brezza Leads

The May 2025 car sales reveal some interesting numbers when it comes to SUVs. Interestingly, the Mahindra Scorpio nameplate emerged as one of the top-sellers and managed to beat several affordable SUVs, including Tata Nexon, Maruti Fronx, Tata Punch and others. The Maruti Brezza grabbed the top position, followed by the Hyundai Creta and Mahindra Scorpio in 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.

The Maruti Brezza was the top-selling SUV in the month of May 2025. The company sold a total of 15566 units of the Brezza last month, as against 14186 units in May 2024, reporting a YoY sales increase of 10%.

Hyundai Creta is at 2nd position with 14860 units, reporting a marginal 1% YoY sales growth. The Scorpio nameplate climbs to third place with 14401 units sold in May 2025 as against 13717 units in the same month last year, registering a YoY sales increase of 5%.

Maruti Fronx and Tata Punch grab 4th and 5th positions, respectively. Maruti sold 13584 units of Fronx in May 2025 as against 12,681 units in the same month last year. On the other hand, Tata Punch reported a YoY sales decline of 31%. Tata sold a total of 13,133 units of Punch in May 2025 as against 18,949 units in the same month last year. 

Tata Nexon slips to 6th position with 13,096 units sold last month as against 11,457 units in May 2025, reporting a YoY sales jump of 14%. Mahindra Thar is at 7th place with 10,389 units sold as against 5,750 in May 2024, registering a staggering YoY sales increase of 81%.

Mahindra’s most popular nameplate and best-seller, the Bolero grabs 8th position with 8,942 units sold in May 2025. The Kia Sonet and Mahindra XUV 3XO in 9th and 10th positions, respectively.
