Japanese carmaker, Honda will launch 3 new SUVs in India by 2027. The brand will focus on multi-powertrain strategy, as it will launch an electric and hybrid SUVs in our market. The next Honda SUV to launch in our market will be an all-new electric SUV, which is expected to arrive sometime in mid-2026. Adding to it, two new hybrid SUVs will be launched in 2026 and 2027.
Honda Cars India has confirmed that it will launch an all-new electric, which will be designed and developed keeping the Indian market in mind. The new electric SUV will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV and the upcoming Maruti e Vitara.
The new model won’t be a born electric SUV, and will be based on a modified ICE platform to accommodate an electric powertrain. This electric SUV will be built at Honda’s Rajasthan based plant, which has an annual capacity of 1.8 lakh units.
The brand’s only SUV, the Elevate will receive a much-needed makeover in 2026. With an upgrade, the mid-sized SUV will also receive a strong hybrid powertrain. It is likely to be launched around festival season 2026, most probably before Diwali next year. The new Honda hybrid SUV will be produced at Honda’s Tapukara manufacturing facility in Alwar, Rajasthan.
The Elevate hybrid will be equipped with the same powertrain that powers the Honda City e:HEV. It is an Atkinson Cycle 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, petrol engine paired with two electric motors, and a small battery pack. One electric motor works as an electric generator, while the other motor is for propulsion. We expect the Honda Elevate Hybrid to deliver nothing less than 26kmpl (ARAI) with a range of around 1000km in a single tank.
Honda will launch an all-new 7-seater SUV in 2027. It will rival the likes of the Tata Safari and Mahindra XUV700. The Japanese carmaker is developing a new global platform, codenamed PF2 to manufacture small and medium range cars. Honda’s Japan and Thailand R&D centres with inputs from India will design and develop the new 7-seater SUV.
The new PF2 platform will be hybrid ready from day one and will come with a heavily localised hybrid powertrain. It is likely to get a new 1.5L Atkinson cycle petrol engine paired with two electric motors nd a small battery pack.
