Next-Gen Hyundai Creta to Get Four Engine Options, Including a Hybrid

Hyundai is preparing to launch the third-generation Creta in the coming years, and big updates are in store. The new Creta will not only feature updated styling and technology, but also offer a total of four engine options. This includes two petrol engines, one diesel, and for the first time – a petrol-hybrid variant.

Next-Gen Creta to Get a Hybrid Engine by 2027

The next-gen Hyundai Creta (codenamed SX3) will arrive in 2027 with a new petrol-hybrid engine. Hyundai will offer a hybridised version of its 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, similar to what we’ve seen in the Kia Seltos hybrid. This move is part of Hyundai’s strategy to balance performance with fuel efficiency, especially with stricter CAFE 3 emission norms on the horizon.

Full Engine Line-Up Revealed

The upcoming Creta will be available with four different powertrain options. These include a 115hp, 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 160hp, 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, and a 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. The fourth option will be the all-new 1.5-litre petrol-hybrid. This wide range of choices ensures that buyers can select a Creta variant that fits their driving needs and budget.

Hyundai’s Bigger Plan for Hybrid SUVs in India

Hyundai is planning a strong hybrid lineup to address the growing gap between internal combustion engine vehicles and full EVs. With EV charging infrastructure still developing in many parts of India, hybrid powertrains offer a practical solution. The company is focusing on the Rs 15 lakh to Rs 30 lakh SUV segment, targeting both domestic and export markets with fuel-efficient and low-emission models.

Hyundai Creta Electric Facelift Also in the Works

Alongside the next-gen Creta, Hyundai is also working on a mid-cycle facelift for the Creta Electric. Expected to launch in 2027, this update will bring minor design changes, improved tech features, and possibly an increase in range through larger batteries or better battery management. Unlike the hybrid, this facelift will not be a complete model change but a refined update to stay competitive.
