Tata Motors is preparing to launch multiple new SUVs over the period of next 2-3 years. The company will soon introduce the new Sierra lifestyle SUV in both EV and ICE avatars. Adding to it, the Avinya based luxury EVs will start arriving from 2027. The homegrown passenger vehicle maker is also working on the next-gen Nexon, Harrier and Safari SUVs. Moreover, a new sub-4 meter SUV is also under development, codenamed Scarlet.

Tata Motors will have three SUVs in the sub-4 meter SUV category, and the Scarlet is expected to be the top end model. First launched in 2017, the Nexon will turn 10 years old in 2027 and the next-gen model is expected to arrive at the same time.
It is speculated that the next-gen Nexon will utilise the existing X1 platform, which will receive massive structural upgrades. Moreover, the SUV will receive substantial design and interior changes in line with newer Tata models. The next-gen Tata Nexon is likely to be offered with petrol and CNG fuel options. Seeing the growing demand for Hybrids, Tata could develop a hybrid powertrain to power its top-selling SUVs.
The Tata Scarlet will be marketed as a lifestyle SUV, and will rival the likes of the Kia Syros and the upcoming Mahindra Vision S based compact SUV. The company is yet to reveal the official launch details of the new compact SUV, but it is expected to enter the testing cycle in the second half of 2026. A possible launch in 2027 or 2028 can’t be ignored.
The Scarlet will sit between the Nexon and Curvv in Tata’s SUV line-up in India. It is expected to be based on a monocoque chassis with design and styling inspired by the new Sierra. The mini Sierra will have an upright and bold stance along with a feature-packed cabin. It is expected to be offered with a 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines. The SUV could also get the new 1.5L 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which is set to debut with the Sierra.
