The Japanese automaker, Nissan discontinued the first-gen Kicks a while back but now the company seems to be preparing to bring in its successor to the market. The Next-Generation Kicks has been spotted undergoing tests overseas ahead of its global debut which is expected to be taking place later this year. Here is what you can expect from this upcoming SUV.
Although the test mule was camouflaged, it did reveal some details about the SUV. According to media reports, the upcoming Nissan Kicks will be underpinned by the CMF-B platform. As shown in the spy shots, the model is likely to get a more aggressive design language. It could feature an upright stance with a taller and flatter nose. Besides, the All-New Kicks will have a two-part grille and a split headlamp setup similar to the Nissan Juke and X-Trail. Towards the rear, it will provide a raked windscreen and a flat-ish tailgate with vertically oriented tail lamps.
Under the hood, the New-Gen Kicks will continue to offer Nissan's e-Power hybrid powertrain that comprises a 1.5-litre petrol engine with an electric motor and battery. While the e-motor drives the wheels, the combustion engine acts as the generator.
Renault-Nissan alliance has also confirmed that the CMF-B modular platform will be introduced in India. In addition, both brands will bring two new SUVs each by the year 2025. These cars will be based on the CMF-B platform and will be localised. However, there is no confirmation of when this particular SUV will arrive in India.
