The third-generation Renault Duster, which is already on sale in global markets, is all set to hit Indian shores next year. Interestingly, the French automaker is working on the off-road focused variant of the SUV, which was recently caught during its test rounds in Spain.
Called the Renault Duster 4X4, this new variant will come with two powertrain options – petrol hybrid and petrol LPG. The petrol hybrid version will feature a 120bhp, 1.2L ECO-G engine paired to a 48V MHEV (mild hybrid electric vehicle) system and 4X4 drivetrain system.
The LPG version of the SUV will have a 1.2L turbo petrol engine with the mild hybrid powertrain running on LPG and gasoline motor. This setup will deliver a maximum power of 150 bhp. In global markets, the new Duster is also available with a strong hybrid powertrain that consists of a 170 bhp, 4-cylinder petrol engine, 50 bhp dual electric motor and a 1.4kW battery pack. Its combined power output is 155 bhp.
In India, the 2026 Renault Duster is expected to come with a 1.3L HR13 turbo petrol engine pushing out a maximum power of 156 bhp. The carmaker might also offer the SUV with Kiger’s 1.0L turbo petrol motor. However, its power and torque figures might vary. The lower variant could feature the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine.
The design and styling of the new Duster will draw heavily from the Dacia Bigster concept. It is likely to look rugged with elements such as pronounced wheel arches with extensive plastic cladding, 18-inch alloy wheels, Y-shaped DRLs and LED taillamps and C-pillar integrated rear door handles.
Similar to its global-spec version, the new Renault Duster in India will come with upmarket interior packed with features such as a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a circular dial for a 4WD selector, rear AC vents, 6-speaker Arkamys 3D sound system, wireless phone charging and ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite.
