Considering the increasing demand for CNG vehicles, Renault India is planning to introduce the CNG version of the Kiger subcompact SUV and Triber compact MPV. No official information is available on the upcoming Renault Kiger CNG and Triber CNG. However, the CNG fuel option is likely to be offered with the naturally aspirated petrol engine and a manual gearbox combination.
Currently, both models are available with a 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol engine, which produces a maximum power of 72PS and 96Nm. It comes with a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox. The Renault Kiger is also offered with a 1.0L turbo petrol engine pushing out a peak power of 100PS and a maximum torque of up to 160Nm. It can be had with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission.
The upcoming Renault Kiger CNG and Triber CNG could be offered in range-topping trim, which comes with features such as an air purifier, wireless charger, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, leather-wrapped steering with audio controls, ambient light, front parking sensor, four-speaker and four tweeter Arkamys audio system, driver’s side window auto up/down with anti-pinch, keyless entry and go, an 8-inch infotainment system, rear seat adjustable headrest, rear seat armrest, rear parking camera, Isofix child seat mounts and more.
At present, the Renault Kiger and Triber lineup are available within the price range of Rs 6 lakh – Rs 11.23 lakh and Rs 6 lakh – Rs 8.97 lakh, respectively. The CNG variants of both UVs will be priced slightly higher than their regular counterparts.
The French automaker has already confirmed three new product launches for the Indian market including the third-generation Renault Duster, a Duster-based three-row SUV and an A-segment EV. The all-new Duster is slated to arrive in 2026 with the 156bhp, 1.3L HR13 turbo petrol engine. The SUV might also borrow the 1.0L turbo petrol engine from the Kiger. The lower trims could be offered with a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine.
The India-spec 2026 Renault Duster will have slightly different styling from the globally sold model. However, it will underpin the Renault-Nissan alliance CMF-B platform. It will be heavily localized for the domestic market to achieve competitive pricing. The new Duster will face challenges from the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and, Kia Seltos, while its 7-seater version will compete against the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 and MG Hector Plus.
